To PUT the work of breeding for rust resistance on a more systematic basis, it
was felt necessary that the mode of inheritance of this character in specific cross
combinations involving some of the more common donors should be known.
Since E. 4853 (Y54 x Nor 1O-B26-1C), 117064-1Y-lb-1R-2M and E. 5175
(Wt xN lO-B) are extensively used as donors of rust resistance in current
programme, they were chosen for the present study. Some morphological
characters like awning, glume pubescence and maturity were also studied.
