Abstract

Inheritance was studied for pink-veined white flower in chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.). This flower colour Is rare in this legume which commonly has pink, white and less frequently blue flowers. A recessive gene, designated ife, was found to inhibit flower colour without affecting vein colour of the corolla. When ire was present In homozygous condition, P- B- and pp B- genotypes gave pink-veined white flower and blue-veined white flower, respectively.
