Abstract

Fusarium wilt and sterility mosaic virus (?) are the two most iIJ~portant diseases of pigeonpea, causing considerable yield losses to the crop. Various aspects relating to these diseases; i.e. mode of transmission, pathogenic races, genetics, screening for resistance, breeding methodology and disease control measures using cultural practices and resistant varieties have been reviewed. Latest information of significant use to the geniticists, breeders and plant pathologists, particularly for developmentof resistant varieties has been compiled.
