MORPHOLOGICAL, CYTOLOGICAL AND PEROXIDASE ISOZYME STUDIES IN DIPLOIDS, HYBRIDS AND AMPHIDIPLOIDS OF VIGNA RADIATA AND V. MUNGO
Main Article Content
Abstract
Amphidiploids were developed from Ft hybrids of Vigna radiata and V. mungo, which showed betlerperformance for most ofmorphological traits compared with Ftsbutnot their parents. Better seed set in amphidiploids seems to have resulted from increase in bivalent formation and increased normal disjunction. The codominant expression of species-specific isoperoxidases was observed in interspecific hybrids and amphidiploids. The isoperoxidases can, therefore, be used as markers for the identification of hybrids and amphidiploids.
