Abstract

Pod pubescence and leaf shape in fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.) could be used as prominent morphological markers in genetic studies. The study on mode of inheritance revealed that pubescence on pods is determined by a single dominant gene. The gene symbol Gp is proposed to designate the pubescence. Similarly the acute tip of the leaf is governed by a single dominant gene, which is designated as At. Considering both the traits together i.e., round leaf vs acute leaf and glabrous vs pubescent leaf, the genetic study revealed that both the genes inherit independently.
